There are 21 students coming from the first level University Inter-University Master’s Degree in Economics and Science of Coffee – Ernesto Illy. The course of study – whose academic year was inaugurated today at Illycaffé in Trieste together with the Ernesto Illy Foundation – is aimed at young graduates in economics, engineering and agricultural sciences and was born to offer an all-round preparation on the culture of the product – from the plant to the cup -, on the social value of coffee consumption and on the culture of producing countries.
“Course unique in the world” – defines it as a company note – the master has reached its ninth edition. Italian and foreign professors from the University of Udine, the University of Trieste, Wageningen University (Holland), the University of São Paulo, the University of Northern Colorado, the University of Ljubljana, the University of Copenhagen and the World Coffee Research will also be attending. Among the supporting partners, the universities of Udine and Trieste, the International School of Advanced Studies (SISSA) of Trieste and the Consortium of Molecular Biomedicine (Area Science Park – Trieste).
In addition to Italian students, there will also be graduates from Brazil, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Finland, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Papua New Guinea, Uganda and Venezuela. The courses, for a total of 400 hours of lessons, will begin on Monday and will continue until June 14th; in mid-October the thesis will be presented.
