Magic in a Paper Bag
Print Recipe
You know the brown bag you pack your kid’s lunch in? Yeah, it’s magic.
No one likes to bite into a tough, unripe piece of fruit. At least I don’t.
I put everything from avocados, pears, to nectarines all in a paper bag, seal it and [depending on the fruit] it only takes 1-2 days to ripen. Magic, huh?
Not quite. Apparently when fruit ripens it releases a gas, which is then trapped in the paper bag, causing the fruit to ripen quicker. Science, magic, whatevs.
Just be sure to monitor as some fruits will ripen sooner than other.
Note: apples produce more [or stronger] gas and should be stored separate from other fruits and vegetables.
