Rockin’ the hospital gown
Print Recipe

Unfortunately, those are my scrawny legs and punctured arm covered in wristbands… Oh, but that is my amazing view from my hospital bed. Seriously, how can I complain?! Almost two weeks ago, I was admitted to the hospital where I stayed for about a week and now [slowly] recovering at home. In two weeks, I’ve had 3 MRI’s (2 more to go), 2 EMG’s, an EEG, a spinal tap (possibly a 2nd) and so much blood drawn, I’m now anemic. However, I feel fortunate to have a team of five outstanding Doctors and Specialist who are all working together to help get me healthy again. As of today, it’s nothing life threatening and I’ve already started to regain some of my strength (& weight) back – just at a very slow pace. Currently, doctor’s are monitoring me closely, but I’m also working with an acupuncturist who’s helping to relieve some of the pain.
Happy Mother’s Day? Well, the “happy” part was the fact that all 5 of us (mom, dad, sister, husband and I) were together, but in my hospital room. I owe my fabulous mother a spa getaway after everything I’ve put her through. She flew down from Seattle to help support my husband & care for me. After 2 weeks of watching my health fade fast, she planned to take me home for a second opinion. We made it all the way to the gate … and well, I’ll spare you the details but needless to say our travel plans ended at Scripps Hospital, La Jolla (San Diego). My husband who was traveling (via car) to Seattle, made a quick u turn, caught a flight from San Francisco and was by my side within a few hours. My sister and dad changed their travel plans and flew down the next day. My sister kept me laughing, Mom & Dad took care of all my cravings, and my husband stayed with me every night (& day)! Having my family by my side was the greatest gift I could have asked for, I love you! By the end of the week, my family adopted my nurse, Tamara into our family, oh & Dr. Bauer (smiley face, mom?). If you know my family, then this is no surprise.
THANK YOU to everyone who kept in me their prayers and for all the positive thoughts! I feel incredibly blessed to have such an amazing group of friends and family. Thank you!
BTW – Hospital gowns need to be redesigned and the rooms, well that’s a whole other story.
